Day 9

Day 9:

Congratulations! Your wagon train has now made it to Fort Boise in Idaho. This means that you only have 400 miles left until you reach the end of the trail. You have heard that the weather will be changing quickly and that around this time of year the weather is cold and it will snow.

Many emigrants who traveled the Oregon Trail feared passing through the state of Idaho. If they didn't reach Idaho in time, or if they didn't make it further west in time, they risked being stuck in the snow. Many of the pioneers did not bring proper supplies to hold them over in the snow conditions, so many died.

Make a blog post titled Journal Entry 3. In your third journal entry, discuss the fast approaching cold weather and how it may interfere with your travels. What will you do if it starts snowing before you make it out of Idaho? What supplies did you bring that will help you survive in the frigid weather? Are you scared, or excited for the road ahead that may be dangerous?
