Each Friday you will be able to pick one project from the following list that you want to complete:
Life Along The Trail: Make a drawing of what you and your family look like while traveling the Oregon Trail. Include drawings of each family member with traditional clothing worn by the pioneers. You can find examples of what these clothes looked like by searching for Oregon Trail Clothes on http://www.google.com/ under images. Also include drawings of your wagon, animals, and some of the supplies you brought on the trip. Make a blog post titled Life Along The Trail. Scan your drawing onto your computer and save it on your desktop. In your blog post, add your drawing by clicking "add image" at the top of the post.
- Audio: When you have completed your drawing, come to my desk and I will help you record yourself giving a description of your drawing and we will post the audio to your blog post.
A Day In The Life: Get a digital camera from the classroom closet. Find one or more other classmates who are also working on this project. Together, make a skit that shows what a typical day would be like for a person traveling the Oregon Trail. You can use some of the props that are in the classroom (clothes and supplies). Make a blog post titled A Day In The Life. Upload the video you made to your computer and save it to your desktop. In your blog post, add your video by clicking "add video" at the top of the post.
Trail Hardships: Write a poem about the hardships your have faced while on the trail. You can include things that have happened to you since the start of the trip or what you plan to encounter before the trip is over. Things to include in your poem could be the scenarios you have chosen with your wagon trains. Make a blog post titled Trail Hardships. Write your poem in your blog.
- Audio: When you have completed your poem, come to my desk and I will help you record your poem and we will post the audio to your blog post.
Moving West: Get one of the blank maps of the U.S. which is located in the assignment folder at the front of the classroom. On the map label the states that were traveled on the Oregon Trail, also include the capitals of each state. Label the forts that were stopped at along the trail and the main rivers. Make a blog post titled Moving West. Scan in your map to your computer and save it to your desktop. Add the map to your blog post by clicking the "add image" at the top of the post.
